Gift Baskets: Over-used or Always Appreciated?

So you’re trying to think of a Holiday present for your top customers, partners, or colleagues and you’re chastising yourself because all you can think of is gift baskets?  Stop giving yourself such a hard time.  Gift baskets, filled with yummy edibles, are popular for many good reasons.

They are shared.  When you drop off a gift basket, you haven’t just made one recipient happy, you’ve delighted the whole office.  If your customer has multiple potential buyers, this is a great way to spread awareness.

They continue to delight.  You get more than one gift.  First you try the cheese, then crackers, then sausages, then popcorn—you get the idea. Since the contents are so varied, your recipient is sure to like something.

Personalize with Texas theme

Texas Treats adds regional flavor

They allow creative expression. You can include unique items to meet personal tastes, or you can share your “local flavor” with other parts of the country.  Unusual items like Vermont cheddar cheese or Texas 5-alarm chili from can help to spur conversation and goodwill.

The only drawback is the contents are consumed and there’s no lasting reminder of you for your recipient.  Instant Imprints recommends you solve this problem by including a logo item in with the basket.  For example, a gift basket full of several coffee samples might include a branded coffee mug. Or you can include an embroidered napkin. There’s a staffing firm that has an interesting twist on this concept.  They deliver a logo candy jar filled with candy to their top clients. Then they refill the candy jar at unusual times of the year, such as the 4th of July or St. Patrick’s Day.  That candy jar stays in the break room all year round, as a constant reminder of their business.

Finally, timing and delivery are everything with gift baskets.  Being the first one to deliver a Holiday gift helps your business stand out. Timing the gift basket to arrive the week before or after Thanksgiving is best. You should deliver the gift baskets yourself if you possibly can.  It’s another opportunity to engage with your customer, in a friendly environment.
